Chocolate Sponge Cake


I baked this yesterday, after spending the day exploring Aomen Lu picking up baking ware, the next stop was for ingredients. For this, we were a tad apprehensive. Gourmet on Xikang Lu was disappointing – we only picked up the flour and sugar here – and then decided to give City Shop at Shanghai Centre, Nanjing Lu a shot. It was well worth it as they have a whole section (also impressive variety of ingredients) dedicated to baking! So I now know where to head if I want to bake muffins, cakes, puddings, pies.
